Artificial turf gets specified by pile height, and the number is not cosmetic. A cricket pitch wants a short, dense pile — around 15mm — so the ball comes off it with a true, predictable bounce. Landscaping turf runs 25–40mm because it is meant to look like a lawn, and a ball on it behaves nothing like a ball on a pitch. Laying the wrong one is the mistake we get called out to correct.
What actually decides whether turf lasts is the base underneath it. It needs to be level, compacted and draining; turf laid straight onto uneven ground ripples within a season and holds water after rain. We prepare the base as part of the job rather than treating it as somebody else's problem.

Nets are tensioned on a stainless steel wire frame using screw pins, turnbuckles and hogging staples, so the installation stays tight rather than sagging after the first season.
